As you're probably aware given that you invested the effort to find the SEC site on the issue, no one yet knows.

IMO, it's largely irrelevant.

If there's an accounting rule change, there will be a one time event with no affect whatsoever on ongoing operating earnings.

Of course, the other possibility is equally probable at this point. There will be no change to current practices.

Also IMO, it really doesn't matter a whole hell of an awful lot what specific accounting decisions are selected by an individual company as long as:

1. They're in accord with GAAP.
2. They're applied consistently across the company; and across different reporting periods.

It's far more important to select companies with honest management focussed on delivering value to both customers and shareholders. With those principles, the employees will also do very well.
