Rich:

The city dropped off considerably after the real estate crash in 1988. The state continues to lose the majority of its young talent to growing areas with more social events.

Of course it never had much to begin with compared to the major cities. Manchester has been growing and is right on the highway to shoot up to Boston and the Cape (great spot for weekends in the summer).

Of course I grew up here and I don't know about the big cities.
