================================================================ WASHINGTON, June 6 (Reuters) - VerticalNet Inc. (NASDAQ:VERT) Chief Executive Officer Mark Walsh said he plans to sell 195,000 common shares, valued at about $6.1 million, of the online operator of business-to-business communities. Walsh made a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on May 30, and the filing was released by the SEC on Monday. He acquired the shares after exercising a stock option. Walsh, who has been CEO since August 1997, sold 65,000 shares on May 24 for about $2.2 million. Prior to that he unloaded 20,000 shares on Feb. 25 for more than $4.6 million, the SEC filing showed. There was no immediate comment from VerticalNet, which is based in Horsham, Pa. VerticalNet shares were unchanged at 43-1/4 on Nasdaq.
