Sun touts Java with industry luminaries, celebrities

SAN FRANCISCO, June 6 (Reuters) - Sun Microsystems Inc. (NasdaqNM:SUNW - news) pulled out all the stops on Tuesday, trotting out industry luminaries such as Apple Computer Inc. (NasdaqNM:AAPL - news) co-founder and chief executive Steve Jobs and basketball legend Magic Johnson to tout Sun and its Java programming language.

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based company was hosting its fifth annual JavaOne developer conference, where software developers gather to meet and learn more about Sun's Java programming language, which is now five years old.
