I've only had one bad experience with E*Trade which, once I questioned them on it, they quickly resolved.

You are going to have problems with E*Trade if you plan on doing alot of day trading, that certainly is not their forte. But, if you are a buy and hold investor, there probably are not too many more economical ways to trade than E*Trade.
