As a Southerner with Southern roots going back to the early 1700's I support buck's insistence that one discriminate between a Southerner and a Texan. I know that it is hard for a Northerner to see the difference, as to a Northerner or Californian, we "all sound and look the same."

Anyway, we fought our wars together (the Revolutionary War) and that unfortunate misunderstanding, the Northern Incursion, but the Texans fought that damned Mexican war and won! They deserve recognition for that.

And we in the South don't really want to be associated with that Mexican war, neither. Who knows? It may not be over!
