Pat, I think that this was what Motter was eluding to.
My humble opinion is that in order for US deployment
to commence, AMTX needs:

1) a chip (preferably the TI chip)
2) a big boy that will front the manufacturing and marketing

I know everybody has been assuming CSCO, and they
are a logical choice, but I wouldnt count out USRX,
particularly if they find any serious flaws with the AWRE
line code approach.

I also wonder if ADI or LSI is considering their own
programmable DSP chip. They must be working feverishly
on this.
