Signal Technology Names Dr. James G. Oakes as Vice President, Cellular/PCS/Wireless Data Products; Company Accelerates Growth in Commercial Wireless Infrastructure Market

DANVERS, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 2000--Signal Technology Corporation ("Signal") (Nasdaq: STCO), a leading provider of electronics products for wireless communications in the commercial, defense and space markets, today announced that Dr. James G. Oakes has joined the company as vice president, cellular/PCS/Wireless Data Products.

"The combination of leadership and microwave engineering experience that Dr. Oakes brings to Signal will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen the company's presence in the fast-growing commercial wireless market," said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer George E. Lombard.

Dr. Oakes has more than 26 years of management experience in the design and manufacture of microwave circuits and devices. Prior to joining Signal, Dr. Oakes held a number of microwave engineering management positions during an 18-year career at Raytheon Co. Most recently, Dr. Oakes was acting deputy general manager at Raytheon's RF Components division. Prior to that, he served as manager of engineering operations and quality assurance at Raytheon's Monolithic Microwave Center.
