I wouldn't worry too much about IONA and BEAS dominating INPR in their respective markets because it's a waste of effort. The miracle is that somehow the technical side of the company has managed to remain in a leadership role in terms of technology. Now, don't get me wrong, I would not wish their Quality Assurance or Technical Writing efforts on my worst enemy; I'm talking about the core technology. Those aspects of the company might even fall below the worse-than-zero sales and marketing team or the third-rate, common sense free executive team. Sadly, they think everything is just swell and, as a result, the systemic problems will continue to keep Inprise foundering.

What's needed is a sale of the technology to a competent company, such as Oracle, BEA Systems, Iona, Allaire, Silver Stream and so on. To be honest, any public company other than the management of Inprise. The thing is, they're all blamers and unwilling to recognize where the fault lies, let alone do anything about it. My theory is that Inprise has has such a bad reputation for execution than they are attracting only the bottom of the barrel or people without any leadership skills looking to earn-while-u-learn at the current shareholders' expense.
