I woke up with that very same thought this morning.

A picture is worth a thousand words. The analogy is
not unlike the evolution from radio to television.

I'm not old enough to remember what people were saying
about televisions prospects just before it became
affordable.

But - this radio / television evolution is exactly why
I think that data transfer for wireless is going to be
sooooo popular. This may even be better. For one thing,
it's two way communication. For another, you can use
it not only for entertainment (a big plus to my mind) but
to increase your productivity at work.

Where I work, we use it in this way already - and really -
it is very popular. The limitation of this implementation
is that it only works over a small area. There are four
receiver/transmitters per floor in the building. Now,
imagine that working where ever you go. Pretty powerful
stuff.

And from the looks of it, QCOM has about a two (worst case)
or three year lead.
