As part of Cisco XDSL team in formative stage, will develop private line internet access solutions that combine much higher speed with much lower cost than alternative dial-up solutions (e.g. ISDN). Design architecture and develop embedded firmware in C and assembly to provide management, configuration, control, and performance data for advanced IDSL/HDSL/SDSL/ADSL systems. Make hardware/software tradeoffs to achieve low cost and high performance.

System and board level designs of T1/E1/T3 systems for ISDL/HDSL/SDSL/ADSL transport incorporating frame relay and/or ATM back ends. Design for low cost at high volume involving heavy ASIC use. Partition complex functionality among hardware/software/ASIC.
