As part of its worldwide network of Compaq Solution Centers, the new center provides comprehensive electronic procurement planning, architecture, pilot and implementation services to help customers quickly realize the benefits of Web-based procurement for Windows 2000 platforms. Compaq consultants will help customers replace antiquated, paper-, fax- and email-based purchasing systems with automated, Web-based solutions, reducing the cost of processing purchases and the cost of goods and services. The eProcurement Competency Center will offer robust solutions with tried-and- tested technologies from Compaq and its partners for rapid deployment as part of Compaq's NonStop(TM) eBusiness strategy.
``By concentrating this critical mass of experienced and skilled people, we're helping customers accelerate their deployments of eProcurement solutions,'' said Ashok Shah, Vice President, Compaq Professional Services, North America. ``Early adopters of eProcurement solutions have seen dramatic bottom-line results and quick payback through improved employee productivity, lower negotiated prices with preferred vendors, reduced purchase order administration labor and costs, and more intelligence on spending data.''
Advanced eProcurement Solutions
The eProcurement Competency Center will focus on integrating advanced automated procurement solutions based on software from industry-leading eCommerce software providers -- Commerce One (Nasdaq: CMRC - news) and Clarus (Nasdaq: CLRS - news) -- on Microsoft's Windows 2000-based platforms from Compaq. A key initiative in Compaq's NonStop(TM) eBusiness strategy, these partner solutions combined with Compaq platforms and services, are central to providing robust, flexible and scalable B2B eCommerce solutions.
Our industry partners agree. We have partnered together to deliver the Commerce One MarketSite(TM) Portal Solution and the Commerce One BuySite(TM) e-procurement application on a worldwide basis. As a Commerce One Global SI and Platform partner, we believe Compaq brings tremendous resources and experience delivering e-commerce projects with tangible results to a range of enterprise customers.''
``We're very excited about participating in Compaq's eProcurement Competency Center,'' said Steve Jeffery, President and CEO of Clarus. ``Access to this center and Compaq's investment in trained resources and lifecycle services for Clarus solutions will allow us to better service and support our mutual customers.''
A Phased Approach
Using a phased lifecycle approach, professionals at Compaq's eProcurement Competency Center deliver pilot implementations so customers have the opportunity to test their eProcurement solution first. This process will ensure customers have a strong foundation to support full-scale deployments. Compaq will also assist customers with business process consulting and engineering, architecture and base technologies, ERP integration, catalog management, and training. Compaq will develop the complete eProcurement solution on Windows 2000 and help roll it out across a customer's organization.
Compaq will staff the center with highly skilled consultants organized into eProcurement Rapid Response Teams along with several hundred Professional Services eCommerce specialists across the country. Together, they will deliver Windows 2000-based eProcurement solutions and services worldwide.
