As far as I know, predictions are for chip sets in Q3, systems available Q4. (From all the roadmaps I've seen). Have to wait and see, I guess. <g>
And if you like predictions, how about our friends at Intel? From the Spring IDF:
In fact, in the first quarter of this year, we will ship over two million of our 820 chipsets into the marketplace. This is a volume platform. It's ramping. It's real.
There's been a lot of industry debate and discussion around this. Clearly we've had some technical issues to overcome. Now, those issues are resolved, industry support is rerallying, and you see several of the quotes from the largest DRAM suppliers here, from NEC, Samsung, and Toshiba.
We know now most were with MTH, and you know that story.
The Timna processor will begin with SDRAM. SDRAM platforms will be shipping at very high volume in the second half of this year.
