The over funded part of the GE pension plan contributed about $1.4 billion to GE's bottom line last year. This "benefit" has been growing steadily with the long bull market. I think big business is lobbying Congress to allow even a higher percentage of over funding in corp. pension plans so as to be able to grow these windfalls even larger. Perhaps this helps
Ge's premium as well???
