Milestone Scientific, Inc. Announces FDA Approval for the Use of The Wand in Medical Applications
LIVINGSTON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 2000--Milestone Scientific, Inc. (AMEX:MS - news) today announced that ``The Wand''©, Milestone's computerized injection system for the administration of virtually painless precision metered dental anesthetic injections, had been approved by the FDA for use in medicine.
Mitchell Kuhn, President and Chief Operating Officer of Milestone, stated, ``We believe that The Wand©'s demonstrated advantages in administering anesthetics in dentistry has applicability in many medical areas, including cosmetic and plastic surgery, colorectal surgery, dermatology, emergency room medicine, obstetrics and gynecology and podiatry. We plan to offer physicians and nurses a series of educational seminars, similar to those we provide to dentists and hygienists. The Wand© will allow the physician to deliver local anesthesia in a virtually painless and safer manner. It will also allow many procedures to be performed on an ambulatory basis which, because of patient discomfort, often had to be performed in a hospital setting under general anesthesia.''
