Dave - RE: "I had a couple of emails back & forth with Toni Beckham & Bob Kennedy yesterday saying that Athlon II would have "confused" customers. I have serious issues with this. They can produce great chips, but know nothing about marketing."

Maybe they are saving an addition to the Athlon name for Mustang? Personally, I'm glad they didn't say Thunderbird is something like Athlon "II" or "-2". That would make it seem like it is behind the PIII.

"Hey, do you think that hotty in the bottom-right (edit) is Toni Beckham?!"

Hheheh. I have no clue. Are those other people AMD executives? I asked Toni Beckham if AMD would offer that poster for shareholders. But I didn't have the guts to ask your question. ;)

Here is a response Toni Beckham gave to someone on the yahoo thread -

"I do not anticipate any new earnings guidance.

AMD's guidance has not changed since our last public comments. Demand for our processors remains strong, and the company is working diligently to ramp production to meet the strong demand. Demand for our Flash memory
products remains strong, and the company is working diligently to add capacity to meet the strong demand.

AMD experienced record revenues and earnings for Q1 2000 and we expect to report similar or better results for the current quarter.

As promised, the Company has introduced its Duron and thunderbird processors this quarter (though some folks may be disappointed), as well as first shipments out of Dresden.

I don't know why it was expected that we would introduce 1.1GHz. We never gave any indication that we would.

Either people have emailed AMD and complained, or this thread is read by more than people than I think. ;)
