Had Microsoft only made an effort to make their Windows products as reliable as their DOS predecessors the quality picture would be far different. Instead, MS endeavored to sell flash, trash, and the promise of ease of use to the rubes. This resulted in products from the school of boom-box ( a reference to those large and often cheap portable audio systems ) engineering: fifty knobs, fifty lights, fifty cents. Utter crap that wastes time and money every day of the working week.
