On the "mystery" fax and writeable DVD technology:
1) I find it laughable that people wish to dismiss the introduction of writeable DVD technology because it is only writeable and not rewriteable. How many of you rewrite over your Zip disks? If you do, do you realize that IOM's master plan of selling Zip disks like razor blades is rather flawed. The razor blade model is premised on the idea of downloading something cool onto your zip disk and keeping it, thus necessitating the purchase of another disk. As far as Darrell: Darrell, try calling Hitachi instead of Toshiba, since it is Hitachi after all the is the first to market here.
2) Allen is a schmuck. Allen should have never faxed the item in question to IOM IR. It is obvious to anyone with a brain and a modicum of ethics that you do not jeopardize a source by exposing them. As a result, for now on I will not be sharing original material with you people. Unfortunately, this also will have to apply to those of you who have e-mailed me personally for my "true" beliefs. However, you can bet your bottom dollar that I will still be keeping you informed about your favorite company. If not Rocky and I, who?
3) The one good thing about Allen's faxing the item in question to IOM IR, is that we have caught them in a lie. Since all of you seem to think that IOM is the victim of a short selliing "conspiracy", I suppose you think that IOM IR's "revelation" that the author of the note was a "big short seller" is all you need to know to dismiss it. (The flawed logic there is another matter.) However, while a wonderful defense, it also happens to be a lie. The author of the note is not a "big short seller" (of course, how would IOM know even if they were). The firm is a research outfit, not a money manager, so the persons in question must be doing their "big short selling" in their e-trade account. |
