Wally: I think the wealth effect is intact. Only the Naz has cratered. The S & P has not corrected enough to do any damage. If you are well diversified, this thing has not afffected you especially in a great job market which seems to be driving consumer confidence Brinker points out there are five years of 20% plus gains in the market. Consumer confidence is still extremely high. Bloomberg has a survey out showing that about 50% of respondents think now it is a good time to buy stocks but 87% could not tell you where the Dow closed last week. So I guess they don't know the Dow has done nothing the past year.

The economy does show signs of slowing but is it enough and will the slowing be sustainable (will it accelerate again?) and where will inflation be in the coming months. These are the risks.
