Many older nations with fine constitutions I'm not sure to what nations you refer. King was an elected position to the vikings 1000 years ago, and the Roman republic was 2000+ years ago. The U.S.A. is the oldest surviving democracy/republic. There is no reason to think people have changed much in the few thousand years except that they are generally healthier. As well you know, the second amendment does not read "In order to maximize personal choice all citizens have a right to arms". Control of weapons is mentioned before rights to own them. TP
