AppNet and clicklogistics Team to Build Revolutionary Online B2B Logistics Management Service
================================================================
BETHESDA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 8, 2000--

Online Transportation Service to Streamline Supply Chain Operations

AppNet, Inc. (NASDAQ:APNT), a premier provider of end-to-end
e-business solutions, announced today that it has teamed with
clicklogistics, a leading provider of business-to-business (B2B)
Internet logistics services, to build a market-defining suite of
online services for the $1.3 trillion global transportation logistics
industry.
Until now, small and mid-size shippers have had limited access to
sophisticated sets of logistics management systems. The cost and
infrastructure required to support such systems have been prohibitive.
Even large companies are not able to reap the full benefit from their
logistics system purchases. Centralized management and complex user
interfaces have limited penetration within a company.
Best categorized as a "click-and-mortar" company, clicklogistics
was formed using key components of its "brick-and-mortar" parent firm,
Cardinal Logistics, which includes a 24 x 7 customer service center
and nearly 1000 carrier contracts, combined with Internet-based
services and a best-in-class transportation management system. A
revolutionary feature of clicklogistics is their "unbundling" of
services, allowing users to access any one of clicklogistics' services
individually, on a transactional basis without a contract.
"In this exploding marketplace, partnering with AppNet will allow
us to take advantage of the latest in technology to provide the market
with the best possible solution," said Tom Hostetler, president of
clicklogistics. "We expect that when completed, we will have
materially simplified and automated the process of selecting,
tendering, tracking and paying for just about any shipping
transaction."
AppNet and clicklogistics are peeling away the industry's
reputation for cost and complexity, building an unbundled suite of
services that will enable small and large shippers alike to fully
manage their transportation logistics online. By providing an
intuitive, customized online service, clicklogistics will drive
dramatic supply chain efficiencies for shipping customers and
transportation vendors alike.
AppNet will provide the end-to-end e-business services necessary
to bring clicklogistics' vision to reality, including Interactive
Marketing, e-Business Application Development, and wide-ranging
e-Business Integration. "AppNet will be web-enabling both existing and
manual logistics processes for clicklogistics, building new
applications and integrating with other best-of-class solutions," said
John McBeth, group president for AppNet.
AppNet will bring this unbundled business model online in an
efficient, user-friendly environment, instantly reaching a largely
unserved market of small and mid-size shippers with exactly those
services that they need. Using the unbundled offering, shippers will
have the freedom to access clicklogistics' services as little or as
much as they want. Some will use the site to simplify the job for
their logistics managers, while others will choose to turn their
entire logistics function over to clicklogistics through contracted
outsourcing. "It will enable companies to control the extent and risk
of outsourcing logistics management functions," explains Eric Wolfe,
COO. "If you just want to outsource one application, one time, you
can. If you want to outsource all applications and/or management, you
can do that, too. It will remove that problem of having to jump off a
cliff when all you really wanted was to stick your toe in the water."
Clicklogistics will deploy its applications across a matrix of
vendors to address most transportation logistics needs, including full
cross-border transactional support. Fulfillment network partners will
allow click to provide comprehensive supply chain planning and
execution features to the community. According to McBeth, "One of the
exciting benefits of this new solution is its ability to handle large
logistics contracts at less cost - a huge competitive advantage for
clicklogistics with phenomenal savings for the logistics industry."
