Michael,

I've wotked with both CDMA and TDMA over the years in satellite communications. CDMA in this medium is far superior than TDMA. It also has far superior utilization of bandwidth than TDMA. An 8k circuit is as good if not better than a TDMA's 16k ciruit, if not even a 32k circuit.

The problem (I feel confident it will be resolved) is your communicating to a bird 22,000 miles away. In essence it is fixed. Mobile PCS is moving closer and farther all the time, plus moving to one site to another. The technical term is near far effect. The military favors CDMA for in inherent immunity to interference over satellite. Now how it applies to mobile comm's is another story that time will tell (positive as far as I'm concern).

Rgds,

Chris
