Swiss, it is difficult to discuss anything with someone like you, who lacks rationality. But, I'll try.
Rather than spouting the distortions and outright falsehoods in the posts you plagerized, it might be worth your while to think about the subject. While you might find the strain of thinking to be difficult, it would do you some good.
I seriously doubt that you even know what you are talking about with your emotional use of stupid terms like "Saturday Night Special" or "cop-killer bullets." People who understand the facts and who are knowledgable about firearms don't use such nonsensical terms.
I contend that you know nothing about the subject other than the one-sided and incorrect information you plagerized from some whacko anti-gun organization like HCI. An attack on the 2nd Amendment is an attack on the Constitution in general, because it is the only part of that document that provides a means for every citizen to be able to defend his life, liberty, and property from those who would take it by force.
As any thinking person would recognize, guns are nothing more than steel, and are no more a threat to others than any other object that can be misused. If kids find them fascinating, as you contend, it is because of foolish people who endow them with some sort of supernatural properties. I doubt that kids in the west 100 years ago had any more fear or reverence for handguns than they did for a pocket watch; they are tools. Making something forbidden increases its allure -- e.g., I would guess that 13 year old boys in a Central African tribe wouldn't find any particular appeal in a magazine with pictures of topless women. Not so in our culture. People like you, who want to use the idea of "taboo" to control people through superstition and mindless fear do more to PROMOTE the misuse of firearms than to amelioriate it.
If you knew anything about the NRA's programs to train and educate people, including youngsters, you wouldn't make the stupid comments you made about the organization. Regardless of whether or not you agree with their legislative agenda (which I only support about 80%), only sheer ignorance could lead you to say that they are not wholly involved in stopping criminals and preventing needless harm from misuse of firearms.
Learn what you are complaining about -- it is hard for me to talk to someone who prefers to believe lies. |
