ICQ has a semi-published API which you can use to get around the security, etc, basic functionality.

Thus its easy to determine 'who is logged on and send out a mass message.....

Of course this is what people tell me u can do. I've never actually tried programming against their API.

But with a copy of SoftIce (http://www.numega.com) you can do just about anything.

Long time ago, I figured out how to get to the admin screens of Compuserve via WinCim... just a simple hook / hat trick. Just about anything is possible when you put your mind to it.
