This reminded me of a line in a movie, (I forgot its name), with Michael Caine, who is the boss of a mercenary army in medieval Germany.
M. Caine has taken over a town en route to another battle, befriends one of the town bosses. As he witness the power struggle between his new friend, his competitors and the local priest, he begins to advice this friend in the matters of power struggle.
As Michael Caine is leaving the town, he tells his friend:
"Kill the priest, he is your real enemy"
In Latin America, the church has much to be blamed for both, the treatment given to the natives in the past, and for the present uncontrolled population explosion that is killing any possibility for progress in Lat Am.
Studying this would give you an idea of the disgrace and poverty under which these families live, and the influence the Catholic church exercises over them...

Much cheaper than maintaining an adult under welfare. This is perhaps the most important one of all, in the long run, the more productive ALL of us are, the less "social programs" will be needed. |
