Interesting that Havlicek started in Boston the same year they added Clyde Lovellette, who had started with the Lakers in 1953 and eventually replaced Big George Makin. Clyde, with the help of his friends Havilcek, Cousy and Russell, repaid his old team by beating them in six games for the championship. Havilcek didn't create a dynasty, the Celtics had already won 5 championships in the six years before he got there. But Cousy retired that year and Havilcek made sure the dynasty kept going.

Man, the Celtics were unstoppable. They won eight back-to-back championships, mostly against the Lakers. Russell won 11 championships in 13 years. When Russell retired in 1969, however, the team fell apart and missed the playoffs for the first time in 20 years!
