My mom doesn't know her treatment regimen yet. The final staging tests were completed last week, but she can't get in to see the oncologist until next week. She had chest pain on top of all this, if you can believe it, and had to get a heart catheterization done yesterday. It was normal, no cardiac problems at all, which is kind of surprising since she had 3 separate angioplasties 7 years ago and you'd expect she would have had recurrence of heart disease by now, especially since she doesn't exactly watch her diet(Kansas farm kids don't give up their pork and beef diets easily). But all was ok. I worry that the lymphoma may be in her chest and that it might account for the chest pain. If so the treatment will be less likely to be successful.
Thanks to both of you guys for your kind thoughts.
Meanwhile, my dad, at 79, is busy with his garden, his writing(westerns and historically accurate short stories), and if you can believe it, he works about 3 days a week as an industrial engineer!! Hope he can find time to shuttle mom back and forth to the doctor...
BTW, if mom has to have chemo, and we don't have medical mary jane in this state, are there any ways to get the stuff legally in other states that do allow it? just wondering. |
