Taiwan Hot Stock: Vanguard Intl Limit-Up On Record Rev
TAIPEI (Dow Jones)--Vanguard International Semiconductor Corp. shares are up by the daily limit of 7% Friday on the company's record monthly revenue in May.
At 0300 GMT (11:00 p.m. EDT Thursday), Vanguard's stocks were up NT$3.50 to NT$53.50 (US$1=NT$30.607) on volume of 32.3 million shares.

The big board was down 0.02%.

The dynamic random access memory, or DRAM, maker posted May revenue of NT$1.57 billion, up 25% from the same month last year.

The company's earning outlook for the year 2000 is strong amid an expected DRAM shortage and rising prices in the second half of the year.

United Microelectronics Corp. and Winbond Electronics Corp. gained after the island reported a stronger-than- expected exports in May, reflecting increasing global demand for Taiwan-made electronics and computer goods. United Microelectronics gained 1.1 percent, to NT$94.5 and Winbond rose 3.5 percent to 103.
