I guess that Mr Fujii and all the other people running the old line banks in Japan will only be able to plod along like they always have. Hopefully Son and Kitao will be able to focus on all of the innovative and profitable ways to deploy capital in a way that will create new value. Perhaps the reborn NCB will not be enormously profitable itself, but the ventures that are funded may themselves become enormously profitable. I don't suppose a bank can have an equity position in any of the companies they help to finance, or can they? <G>. There are many ways to skin a cat...
