Jim: allow me to educate you (again) on your question of what is a Saturday Night Special (and perhaps you can help me understand that if you know so much about the subject of gun control and the NRA, why are you always the one with the questions?)

In either case, defining a Sat Night Special is kinda like people trying to define pornography, they can't put a precise definition on it, but know it when they see it...in most states, the definition relates more to the material the gun is made of versus the price or other specs...usually, we're talking about a cheap (under $150) handgun, cast from a zinc alloy or aluminum (although Berettas, used by loads of police are also made of aluminum) or any other alloy that melts below 800 degrees F, usually not made of steel and usually defined by a specific barrel length specification (usually 3 inches or less)...as an aside, most Sat Night Specials are produced by a small number of gun makers located in Southern California.
