Zimbabwe gold miners face closure this year, seeking investment
Harare--June 9--Zimbabwe's gold producers are facing a cash crisis which
could force the closure of a number of mines, according to the country's Chamber
of Mines. Chamber president James Maposa said output at the mines this year is
expected to drop by 10-20% over the 27.5 tonnes produced in 1999. (Story .13236)

Asia Precious Metals Review: Gold falls on Australian selling
Hong Kong--June 9--Selling from Australia drove spot gold down to below
U.S. $284 per ounce late in Asian trade, after the price had fluctuated in a
$284.30-284.80 band for most of the day, dealers said Friday. Gold's unclear
price direction kept many Asia-based players from taking positions prior to the
weekend, they said. (Story .2200)
