"Actually, I think it will, but it will be a big niche, providing plenty of room for growth for CTXS."

Lucius- Perfect lead in for my next message which I hope doesn't go unoticed during this major haircut. I'll post it anyway.

I hope we can get a few Citrix re-sellers to comment on MetaFrame for UNIX. I just read some reviews of MetaFrame for UNIX that were quite positive. I was pretty impressed with how quickly Citrix went after this market when they saw a need. Or I should say, UNIX customers came to them and asked for it. At least that is how it was told in the last CC.

Now the way I see it, this opens up an entirely new market for Citrix. Appears the UNIX world has very similar problems the Windows world has.

This new product out of Citrix allows UNIX and Java applications to be run remotely from any client, including a web browser, over any bandwidth, on any old piece of hardware. If the client device has a display, it can run any high end, processor UNIX intensive application. Very similar to the MetaFrame for Windows selling features.

Plus, total cost of ownership(TCO) is reduced for the same reason MetaFrame for Windows is so popular--central control over desktops. Up to the point where apps can be pushed to users at the click of a button. Going so far as to throwing a little icon on their desktop to run it, ie. Program Neighborhood(I think?).

So as I recall, some professionals were worrying the market for MetaFrame for Windows might be decreasing as some corporations elect to just do a complete rewrite into a web-based environment. So this was a cause for concern.

So my question is, wonder how MetaFrame for Windows is going to do in the UNIX world? Do you think it may be just as successful as what MetaFrame has done in the Windows world? And even if some corporations elect to do forklift upgrades on Windows applications to a web-centric platform, I'm wondering if UNIX sales might more than make up for any slowdown in Windows? -MikeM(From Florida)
