johnd, In my opinion, not being able to buyback the stock has pushed this one down into the 60s. Otherwise, I don't believe we would have seen anything lower than the high 70s.

A lot has to do with confidence and a more stable stock (using buyback and buyback announcements) would have prevented this heavy selling. The stock tanked due to a non-confidence in the stock price.

I am pretty confident the buyback is July at the earliest. However, those puts they sell in private placements might be exercised by the buyers and that could also mean a buyback without having to go into the markets to buyback.
Of course it depends upon the strike prices and expirations.

I think MSFT will announce the buybacks since the CFO had indicated that is subject to approval by the board. In the past, they just kept buying quarter after quarter without ever issueing a press release. This time, I believe we will get a press release.
