That's the altruistic way of looking at things.
Personally, I'm from the old school and pp are taken down to make money first, company strength second.
Something like the home renovator/flipper who makes his profit on closing a "handyman special" deal, then can sell for breakeven.
Profit is made before the deal is cooked.
But then, what do I know, my broker doesn't come running to me with cheap stock.
