---FONR NEWS RELEASE---
----------------------------------
MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 12, 1997--FONAR
CORPORATION
(NASDAQ:FONR) today reported that the United States Court of Appeals
for the Federal Circuit has denied a request by General Electric
(GE) for a rehearing and has declined the suggestion for rehearing
in banc of a patent infringement suit and $103 million award
(exclusive of interest) upheld by the court in FONAR's favor
against GE.

GE filed a petition with the United States Court of Appeals for
the Federal District on April 1, 1997 to request that the three
judges who heard the appeal agree to a rehearing of the case. GE
further requested that the court accept a suggestion for an in banc
hearing which would have allowed all of the judges on the court's
bench to re-hear GE's appeal of the patent infringement suit upheld
in FONAR's favor. The court has now officially denied both
rehearing requests by GE.

FONAR is represented by Ronald J. Schutz and Martin Lueck of the
Minneapolis law firms of Robins, Kaplan, Miller and Ciresi.

Be sure to visit FONAR's WEB page for company product and investor
information.
