Weren't the early Athlons gimmicked to yield bad numbers? It could be that Intel is doing the same thing AMD did. It might also help them avoid killing off PIII sales.

OTOH, lately they seem to be doing everything they can to make it look like what's coming up is very good. It may be that the above doesn't make much sense.
