I was intrigued by the way the Mayor of London was elected. You can vote for your first choice and your second choice. If no one gets a majority, then they add up all the scores, and the one who got more first choice votes and second choice votes added together, wins. It really encourages minority party involvement, the new Mayor is Red somebody-or-other, not because of his hair color. The Tory came in first in first choice votes, I think, but he didn't get enough second choice votes.
