Here's the latest on how the sell signal is working for me and for the market in general.
As far as the markets in general, the US market as a whole went up slightly over the past month. As of tonight, the US market is 1.6% higher than it was on 1/12/00, when I was first able to act on the sell signal. One month ago, it was 2.1% lower.
The total international market, as measured by the average performance of VWIGX and MNIGX, is now down 0.5% since 1/12/00, just a little worse than the US market. This compares to a reading of down 3.8% one month ago.
The European market, as measured by the average performance of PRESX, VEURX, and FEURX, is up 4.6% since 1/12/00.
Here are the data related to the above paragraphs.
% Diff. Since 1/12/00 Wilshire 5000 1.6% VWIGX 6.6% MINGX -7.5% Average of VWIGX and MNIGX -0.5% VEURX 1.1% PRESX 1.5% FEURX 11.1% Ave. of VEURX, PRESX, FEURX 4.6%
All in all this week, I'm 11.7% better off than I would have been if I had just held everything. That's a little worse than one month ago, when I was 20.2% ahead.
Here are my sales since the signal, as well as the percent increase (negative numbers indicate a decrease) in the prices since I sold.

PBTCX 01/12/00 13.0% SRFCX 01/12/00 10.9% MNMCX 01/12/00 14.9% 500 Index 01/12/00 1.5% VWIGX 01/12/00 6.6% CYMI 01/12/00 -15.1% CYMI 01/31/00 -31.2% MOT 02/04/00 -32.5% MOT 02/11/00 -34.9% PRSCX 02/29/00 -10.9% UTEK 02/29/00 -28.8% (See Note) Average -9.7% Less Money Market Interest 2.0% Total Opportunity Cost -11.7% (Negative means ahead)
Last Week's Value -20.2%
[Note: % benefit on UTEK was locked in with a purchase on 4-14-00 at $11.75 per share.] To summarize, the markets have not moved much since 1/12/2000, when I was first able to act on the sell signal. The stocks and funds that I sold, however, have dropped, so I'm 12% better off than if I had not followed the sell signal.
Best wishes,
