I wonder if you dreamed my day? The place we took the kids to on the field trip had a great big three story complex maze in the center, like the ones they have for hamsters, or the ones they have at McDonald's, only much bigger, big enough that even adults can run around in it if they wanted to. All the kids in there were about the same age, and height, although they all were different colors. I was wandering around, looking for things to do, and found something called the Dream Zone, with lots of pictures drawn by kids about their dreams, like dreaming they could fly, or were great artists, scientists, actresses. There was a sort of Magic 8-ball machine, where you twisted some dials to give personal information, and then whispered your wish into a microphone, and pushed a large green button, and on a screen an answer lighted up.
The first time, I whispered, "I wish to become rich rich rich as a lawyer," and waited for the response, and it came back
I-F-T-H-A-T-S-W-H-A-T-Y-O-U-W-A-N-T
Well, no, I thought to myself, that's not really what I want.
So I did it again. "I wish to know what I want to do when I grow up."
And the response came
I-T-A-L-L-D-E-P-E-N-D-S-O-N-Y-O-U
Big help, right? So I need a plan. |
