"Our Internet business is about 52 percent of the total business in Asia at the moment," Dell's Asia vice president Ron Goh told a news conference.

"We plan to grow that to about 70 percent in the near future."

Goh said Dell currently was transacting about $1.7 million a day over the Internet in Asia.

Globally, the company transacts about 40 percent of total business, worth about $40 million a day, through e-commerce.

Eventually, it plans to conduct all business on the Web, he said.

Dell's Asia-Pacific revenue for the first quarter of the year grew by 47 percent compared with the year-ago period, Goh said. He did not disclose the value.

Net income worldwide rose to $525 million in the first quarter from $434 million in the year-ago period.
