Company Interview Excerpt
CEO says the Internet is important to Polyair Inter Pack Henry Schnurbach, Polyair Inter Pack.
HENRY SCHNURBACH is CEO of Polyair Inter Pack, Inc.
TWST: Would you care to give us some background on Polyair Inter Pack (AMEX:PPK)?
Mr. Schnurbach: We operate in two different areas. Polyair is our packaging division, which manufactures protective packaging: bubble wrap, foam, mailers and other product lines related to protective packaging: anything that goes inside the box. Cantar is our pool division, which manufactures solar blankets, winter covers, liners and other accessory pool products. We have 10 facilities in North America: seven in the United States and three in Canada. Eighty-six percent of our sales are in the United States, with the balance located in Canada. In addition, on the equipment side, we have developed a product line that manufactures the AirSpace© Pillow, which are little bags of air for various shipping requirements, including Internet fulfillment houses.
TWST: How are you utilizing the Internet? Does it play a role in Polyair?
Mr. Schnurbach: There are two parts to that question. Are we selling products over the Internet? No, not directly at this time. Is the Internet important to our company? Yes, the Internet is important in that e-commerce business is growing tremendously. Our products in the packaging business are e-commerce oriented. Every package an e-commerce retailer ships out by either envelope or box must have protective packaging. In many cases they require bubble, a bubble mailer, foam wrap, or the AirSpace© Pillow. The AirSpace© Pillow is a tremendous alternative to peanuts or wadded paper. It works very quickly, its clean and the end-user receives an undamaged, attractive-looking package.
