I was at the EXPO today and saw the notebook zip. It was demoed on a Tosiba and it slides right out like a cd rom or 1.44 floppy would. I talked with the person demoing the notbook zip and I got the following answers from him:

1)The demo zip was a "prototype A" device, not a finished product.
2)The oem evaluation process of the notebook zip has not been initiated. Only finished products will be shipped to oems for evaluation.
3)The battery drain of the notebook zip is comparable to the present cd-roms.
4)The performance is the same as a regular zip (using scsi).

Other things at the expo.
3m had a booth and of course had a ls120 on display there. There were a dozen or so persons looking at the ls120 when i was there. Naturally, I talked to the reps. This is the feedback I got.

1)3m lauds backward compatibility (a no brainer)
2)when asked about the price and speed, the rep said that it was comparable to the zip. "The ls120 is $200 and so is the zip."
3)The rep told me that the "aftermarket" ls120's would begin to be shipped in this fall for around $220 by Panasonic and other manufacturers. (huh!!)
4)"There is a notebook ls120 being worked on"

Hope this helps
