To add an additional point concerning digital cameras and camcorders, etc...

I think that it's worth considering that quite a few of the cameras that I've looked at seem to come with one of the dumbed-down versions of software like PhotoDeluxe or Photoshop. With that kind of software, it makes it possible to do all kinds of "adjustment" or modification to photos... things like cropping, editing out unwanted objects like hydro wires in the air around buildings, adjusting out "red eyes", etc... They can also be used to sharpen photos, while reducing their "file size" so that they don't take long to download if you are intending to send them as emails or upload them onto a website...
