My part in this discussion has been to suggest what is possible with devices currently on the market (or devices that could potentially be fabricated if a market emerged). It certainly appears that delivering power via fiber optic cable is feasible.

But is it practical?

Is there a potential market for a fiber optic based power delivery system? And if so, is pulling a separate fiber, specifically designed to carry power, a practical option? Why not just pull copper?
