3Com Dates:

From DavidT - the man with the plan.

Here are the dates on my calendar:

6/20 after the close - COMS earnings report, which will also report PALM's revenues as "discontinued operations". I have an E-Mail in to COMS IR to confirm this date.

6/29 after the close - PALM earnings report.

7/7 at the market open - COMSv "ex-distribution" and PALMv "when issued" start trading, so you can (if you trust your broker to get it right) sell your COMS and keep your right to your PALM distribution, or sell your right to your PALM distribution and keep your COMS.

7/11 after the close - PALM distribution ratio will be set based on the total COMS outstanding at that time. Info packet will be mailed to COMS investors of record and will be available on the COMS and PALM web sites shortly thereafter.

7/27 after the close - PALM shares distributed as dividend to COMS shareholders.

7/28 at the opening - PALM's full float starts trading.

As I noted in my previous post, the HWP/A spin off experience would suggest that the general investing public may well be unaware of the ability to trade COMSv after 7/7, so 7/7 may not be as important a date as we think. We'll see.

And IMO, 3Com will buy back COMS shares any time after 7/7 if it sees them at a price it considers cheap.
