Questions on scalping.

I read the first 700 messages of this board and noticed that someone asked about scalping but I don't think anyone ever wrote about how they do it, what they look for etc. Maybe it's because it's something that's done by feel and with experience and is hard to explain. I know there is an article on Pristine about being your own market maker but if I recall that one is more geared towards making the spread.

Also, for those of you who scalp or have scalped exclusively, how much of your capital (and margin) do you use on one stock, assuming you only have one or two positions open at one time? Do you use Level II exclusively without charts?

I'm much too small to have the capital to scalp for 1/8ths or 1/4s but want to learn how to do it (and paper trade first!). I have a very general idea of how people go about this but wanted to hear more from people who actually do it and try to pick up on some of the finer points.
