My son's high school wanted to put him on drugs so he could cope with the environment. Hell the teachers have turned into drug dealers ... what's next? They even admitted that the drugs they were going to give him were addictive and he would need more and more of them as time went on to have the same effect. I said screw you ... that's not a solution ... you're just adding to the problem. They said put him on drugs or he's your problem. I took him out of that school right after that meeting and never let him go back.

It's no wonder so many kids are on drugs these days ... it's turned into a form of self medication so they can cope with life.

Do these schools teach Aldous Huxley anymore? Remember Brave New World, with a planned world of drones hooked on a drug called soma, given to kids in the schools beginning at age 5?

"If we could sniff or swallow something that would, for five or six hours each day, abolish our solitude as individuals, atone us with our fellows in a glowing exaltation of affection and make life in all its aspects seem not only worth living, but divinely beautiful and significant, and if this heavenly, world-transfiguring drug were of such a kind that we could wake up next morning with a clear head and an undamaged constitution-then, it seems to me, all our problems (and not merely the one small problem of discovering a novel pleasure) would be wholly solved and earth would become paradise."

If one were limited to ten books to read, this one would be on my recommended list.
