One possibility is that someone, say Company XYZ, submitted a RFP and part of it
included an ADSL/DMT component and the deadline said the bid had to be in by such
and such a date. If the only DMT chip available by that date is ADI's then that's the
one Cisco would submit. There would be no guarantee Cisco would get the whole bid
or even any of it and even if they did, there'd be no guarantee they'd use the submitted
components.

I don't understand why Amati didn't have a suitable chip available.
I keep hearing about the Amati trials and Aware's lack of participation in these trials. So how come they have a chip available
and Amati doesn't???
