Vodafone May Sell 49 Percent of Infostrada in IPO, FT Reports
By Inga Kolvik

Milan, June 11 (Bloomberg) -- Vodafone AirTouch Plc, the world's largest mobile phone company, is expected to sell as much as 49 percent of Infostrada SpA, an Italian fixed-line phone company, in an initial offering planned for the fall, the Financial Times said in its online edition, without citing sources. The share sale may raise as much as 7 billion euros ($6.7 billion). The funds will go toward buying and building third- generation mobile networks around the world, the FT said.

Vodafone Chief Executive Chris Gent said last month a sale of shares in Infostrada, of which the company controls about 90 percent, could take place in September or October.
