Re: "After the MTH fiascos, I do not believe any workstation user would risk a MRH even if, Intel had one."

Looks like they do:

developer.intel.com

"Intel© 82803AA Memory Repeater Hub for RDRAM (MRH-R) Datasheet

The Expansion channel is the interconnect between the MCH and the MRH-R. The MRH-R component provides the capability to support multiple Direct RDRAM channels off each expansion channel of an MCH. This datsheet includes: a block diagram of an Intel© 840 chipset memory subsystem with MRH-Rs, an 82840 MCH to 82803AA MRH-R interconnect diagram, plus information on channels, registers and signals.

The Intel© 840 chipset no longer supports SDRAM memory. Intel has also removed support for 82804 SDRAM-based memory repeater hub (MRH-S), which enabled SDRAM support. The 840 chipset was designed for RDRAM memory and continues to support RDRAM memory. For added RDRAM memory capacity, the 82803AA Memory Repeater Hub for RDRAM (MRH-R) can be used."
